In 1996, school administrator, Tom Clark was attending the ABANA conference.
He was very impressed with a blacksmith from Israel named
Uri Hofi, who was demonstrating along with his own students/workers. As an experienced blacksmith Tom quickly saw that Uri had a special way of smithing and proceeded to set up some classes with him here in the U.S.
Tom also made a trip to Israel to see Uri's school and afterwards continued to work closely with Uri, and other smiths, in setting up the Ozark School to be one of the best for those seeking to learn from experienced blacksmiths.
So many have "become a better blacksmith" by attending the classes, and all are a testament to the history, the tools, and the methods taught here.
"I am an amateur and took the Basic Blacksmithing class in 2000.
I continue to be amazed when I watch experienced blacksmiths demonstrate. . . and then I realize that I learned to do the same things faster! . . . .
TAKE THE CLASS!" - Eric Showalter
Besides providing a great environment and experienced instructors, Tom has made other improvements to the blacksmithing art and trade with his world renowned designs for many tools such as the Ozark Pattern Anvil, Hand-Forged Hammers, and of course his trademarked line of tongs,
TomTongs®. Students of the school use the tools during classes, and they are available to anyone exclusively through the Ozark School Tools Store.
